ERACLEA
The project stems from the desire to transform three roundabouts at the entrances to Eraclea into landscape landmarks capable of expressing the identity and history of the territory.
The three roundabouts interpret three different moments in the relationship between Eraclea and its landscape: water and the Piave River, land and land reclamation, wind and the sea. A unified narrative takes shape through materials, vegetation, topography and sculptural elements, establishing a continuous dialogue between memory and contemporary design.
The first roundabout, “The Threshold of the Piave”, evokes the original relationship between land and water through soft, light forms, spontaneous vegetation and a system of vertical elements recalling the memory of ancient pile dwellings and the lagoon landscape.
The second, “The Emerged Land and Land Reclamation”, interprets the transformation of the territory through a geometric and controlled composition. Ridges, fields and paths recreate the agricultural landscape shaped by the land reclamation process, while the vertical stone elements emerge from the ground as signs of the conquest and stabilisation of the land.
The third, “The Wind and the Sea”, forms the gateway to Eraclea Mare. The design of the ground, coastal vegetation and a corten steel sculpture inspired by the movement of wind and sails create a contemporary, recognisable yet restrained landmark, introducing visitors to the landscape of the coast.
Together, the three interventions create a landscape gateway to Eraclea, where nature, memory and contemporary design come together to convey a unified and recognisable image of the territory.
